Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
