US President Donald Trump Says 'For the Most Part, Agreement Exists' on Subsequent Phases of Peace Deal in Gaza
The American leader has stated that "in general, agreement exists" on how the following steps of the peace deal in Gaza will work, though he admitted that "a few particulars … will be worked out."
"Hamas is assembling them at present," he commented, speaking about the captives yet to be freed in Gaza. "They are in pretty rough situations."
The US president, who has been praised by the group and many in Israel for his involvement in brokering a peace accord, said he believes the agreement will "be sustained" because "the parties are weary of the fighting."
Forthcoming Meeting on Gaza Situation
At the same time, the president intends to convene world leaders for a high-level meeting on Gaza during his visit to the North African nation in the coming week. Among those expected to join are officials from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Indonesia.
Based on sources, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be absent.
