Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
