McKenna's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the Championship and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native former Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique position here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think all people has to go around and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna signed a new four-year contract in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, should they not end up Group J second place.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
