Football Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's only away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
